5 Books That Will Transform Your Life

So today I am going to talk about two of my favorite things, books, and inspiration. I have found that on days when I’m not feeling inspired or motivated to go after my dreams, all I have to do is read a good book. Or in my case, most of the time, “listen” to a book through audible.com. I have a long commute to work, so I take advantage of that time to get my mind in the right place.

It was tough narrowing the list to just five, but I managed. In no particular order, the following are some of the books I’ve “read” that has transformed my life in one way or another.  Here we go.

1. You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jane Sincero’s.  I’ve listened to this book three times and each time I’m reminded that I shouldn’t be afraid to go for what I want. Sincero delivers her message in a fun and entertaining way. Her down-to-earth, humorous delivery gets you hooked immediately.  Forever, I will return to this book as a form of inspiration.

2. Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert. If you don’t know who she is, she is the author of Eat, Pray, Love. Gilbert’s delivery is very different than Sincero’s. If I had to sum up this book in one word I would call it passion. In this book, you are reminded to get back to your passion. Forget about the money, the stress or whatever else keeps you up at night. I’ve listened to this one twice. She is a wonderful writer with a very important message. Be creative, yes, but always do it with love.

3.  Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes. If you don’t know who she is, she is the writer and creator of TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder to name a few. This book is wonderful in that it reminds you of the power of yes. Often we get stuck in a rut, in our mundane routines, which often makes us feel like we’re idled. In this book, Rhimes shows you her one-year transformation, simply by her decision to say yes to everything. This book serves as a reminder for you to say yes to life.

4. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Of course, this list would not be complete if I didn’t include this book, this book that changed my life! I can’t remember how many times I’ve listened to this book, probably more than ten. This book is a perfect place to start if you’re new to The Law of Attraction. But in my opinion, this book is far more than that though. It will help you understand that you are the creator of your life, that you are in control, and that life is not happening to you, but happening for you. If you haven’t read it/listened to it, you must!

5. E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality by Pam Grout. I’ve listened to this book three times (when I like a book I like a book, what can I say!). This book is a fun read. Grout’s writing style is similar to Sincero’s. She is funny and entertaining and gets right to the point.  The experiments in the book are fun and easy to do. At every step, you are proving to yourself that you do, in fact, create your reality.

So there you have it, my five must-reads that will inspire you and motivate you to create the life that you desire. I would love to hear from you, so comment below with books that have rocked your world.
